Sadly today my friends literally forced me to see the light. I was walking by and John said "Guild wars sucks" I lied to myself saying it didn't. Well compared to WoW it does. It only has better graphics in my opinion. The community sucks and when you think about it so does the level cap once you hit 20. I am going to buy this shortly after Christmas.

you'd be amazed i can't mow lawns i can't do jack i'm disabled so the 300$ gov check is all i get

I have to admit I would switch to WoW if it wasn't for the monthly fee. I know it's only 10 quid a month, but it's the principle.

I used to tell myself EXACTLY that... that no game is worth paying for AFTER you've already paid to buy the game itself. Then I took the plunge and bought World of Warcraft... totally changed my mind. My first prepay period is almost over and there's NO doubt that I'll be renewing. It's simply that good. Guild Wars barely scratches the surface of how deep and engrossing WoW is. The amount of content and player interaction is simply amazing. You never run out of things to do. Questing got you down, go queue up for a Battleground and take out your frustrations. Grinding mobs getting boring, team up with some buddies and take on an instance. eBay fanatics can get their fix by camping out the Auction House looking to make a buck... no annoying LA dist 1 spam. Heck you can blow hours just FISHING if you want.

If you enjoyed Guild Wars, you owe it to yourself to take the next step and play a proper MMO. It's just plain better. I appreciate what ANet was trying to do, and for the most part they succeeded. But the lack of content makes extended playability problematic at best.

Yeah, I'm still toying with the idea. It's just that when my company sends me away for 3 weeks, it seems such a waste of cash.

I really hope (maybe a little optimistically) that PvE in Chapter 2 may be more absorbing. I fancy a little crafting - possibly a bit of fishing too

I honestly can't imagine the PvE formula changing much. ANet has pretty much said that all crafting will remain in the hands of NPC's, and obviously the instanced aspect isn't going to charge. I would like to see something more akin to WoW's aggro system though. It really does make you think about how to take and hold aggro. I do hope that the new trading system will be implemented in Ch. 2. I'm not really surprised that we haven't seen it yet. It's a pretty big change.

the problem isn't i've never played a real mmorpg it's that i really don't have the money and i do mean that

i find it bs that you'd ever have to pay for someone you already paid for anyway

I've decided to try WoW 10 day trial.

Well i can't say i'm impressed since i have so many problems running this game.

My PC is in tip-top shape (drivers and firmware), i meet the sys req and still i get disconnected every 5 minutes, my character is not shown and have the "Unknown entity" problem.

I've been searching Blizzard tech supoort forums on what could cause this, changed my firewall settings, worked on my router, changed my NIC transfer to full-duplex since being at automatic was a sin punishable by WoW not working properly, etc... At least my character appears on screen but i still get disconnected and have the "Unknown entity" problem.

I've been at it for 2 hours before i had to leave for work.

Believe me I NEVER had so many problems with a game before.

For a game with a monhtly fee and a player base that huge i can't figure why the tech support forum is so crowded and the game so toutchy.

Then again, maybe i'm just unlucky.

well, its more broad overall. up to lvl 60 (soon 70), 2 sides, competition. you can choose 9 classes from 8 different races. all different. 6 types of rarity in weapons, one left undiscovered still. no money capacity :P, that anyone has discovered at least... you can choose 2 professions: rather; blacksmithing, mining, skinning, tailoring, leatherworking, engineering, herbalism, and a few more. on top of that you can have 3 other professions like cooking, fishing and first aid. there are many different servers, with many players in each. think of every couple servers = the amount of people who play gw at a time. also, theres about 20 slots for armor - (head, neck, chest, wrist, hand, legs, 2 finger slots, back, tabard, feet etc) you can duel wield 1h weapons and still have an offhand equipped. MORE MATURE PEOPLE! lol.

you can go wherever you want, whereas in gw you are restricted to paths. you can have all of your skills/spells at once. NO LOADING TIMES! auction house, dueling, you can also examine other peoples' armor and see what it would look like on you even if you can't wear it, or to admire someone with a lot of cash. you can have raids up to 40 members. hundreds of more creatures than in gw. they dont nerf as much as anet, infact its rare.

banks are larger, inventory larger. you can buy mounts at level 40 to travel faster, use transportation that is available. battleground, warsong (different types of pvp). you can raid the other continent to gain honor, and be the best on your server. there are countless ranks of pvp

I went on my first raid yesterday. It was probably the most fun I ever had in an MMO except for our sides had alotta paladins and the horde wiped us out. But it was still fun none the less.
